Job Description
As Category Lead, you will required to support the developent and implementation of sourcing and procurement strategies for respective business unit.
The duties and responsibilities are listed below. The list is not comprehensive and related duties and responsibilities may be assigned from time to time.
  • Support development and implementation of sourcing and procurement strategies, including Category Management Plans where applicable
  • Lead sourcing activities in relation to category and stakeholder requirements
  • Develop content management strategy for designated categories
  • Manage the procurement of parts to support maintenance, repair, operation, and refurbishment activities of Business units.
  • Manage the procurement of major train components and line replaceable units
  • Manage the procurement of indirect categories as per the requirement of the business unit.
  • Act as the business partner for the Project business unit by understanding the needs and ensure that their requirements are reflected in tenders
  • Develop system support requirements and tools for the vendor and contract management
  • Conduct and report on analysis of expected vs. actual outcomes to ensure the service levels are met
  • Assist the business units by ensuring service level issues are remediated
Qualifications and Work Experience
  • Degree in Electrical and Electronic or any Engineering discipline or relevant field. Relevant logistics or procurement certification would be an advantage.
  • Preferably with 3 – 4 years of related experience in a category related role, entry level candidates are welcome.
  • Work experience in the public transport industry would be an advantage
  • Experience in financial institution regulatory requirements and risk management expectations related to outsourcing and vendor management would be an advantage
  • Able to review, monitor, and recommend improvements on the contracts and implement business processes as per the contractual obligations.
Skills and Competencies
(1) Technical skills include:

  • Ariba, SAP knowledge (MPR functionality) and SAP qualification
  • Spread sheet analysis (e.g. MS Excel with course certification) with strong mathematical ability.
(2) Generic skills include:
  • Good negotiation and influencing skills to attain the required outcomes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to show continuous improvement of work quality
  • Able to handle evolving problems effectively
  • Able to perform under minimal supervision
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal skill when liaising with the vendors, regulatory business partners and other stakeholders in the organization
