Job Description:

The job-holder is responsible for cleaning, disinfection, sterilization of surgical instruments and providing a safe and clean environment in Theatre Sterile Supply Unit (TSSU).

Primary Responsibilities and Duties (80%)
House-keeping of TSSU
  • Performs cleaning of working table top, Sterilizers, washer-disinfectors and sealing machines
  • Performs cleaning of sterile storage area and cupboard.
  • Collection and decontamination of instruments
  • Collects/ receive instruments from OT / SOC
  • Receive soiled instruments and check for completeness
  • Perform decontamination of receptacles and instruments using washer sterilizer / ultrasonic washer
     
Reprocessing of instruments
  • Inspects instrument for cleanliness and proper alignment
  • Inspects and prepares surgical items for sterilization
  • Assemble simple instrument sets in accordance to instrument format
  • Pack simple instrument sets for sterilization using appropriate packaging material
  • Assist to load instruments in the steam Sterilizer
  • Report defective instruments to supervisor
     
Sterile Storage Area
  • Store sterile instrument sets / loose instrument and sterile supplies in designated locations
  • Distribute sterile supplies to OT
Secondary Responsibilities and Duties (20%)
  • Performs any other duty as assigned by supervisor
Job Requirements
  • Completed Secondary School
  • WSQ Higher Certificate in Healthcare Support (Sterilization Service)
  • Self-motivated, responsible with good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Have initiative and is a team player
  • Physically fit

About Alexandra Hospital Alexandra Hospital (AH) has been under the National University Health System (NUHS) since 1 June 2018, and will serve as a 326-bedder facility, providing seamless, one-stop comprehensive care by one care team to some 100,000 residents in the Queenstown precinct (the oldest housing estate) and Southwest and the rest of Singapore. Alexandra Hospital is the first Integrated General Hospital in Singapore providing holistic and seamless care from acute, sub-acute to rehabilitative settings, reducing the need for a patient to transfer to another healthcare institution.
