The 2019 Nobel Prize for Economics has been jointly awarded to Mr Abhijit Banerjee,
Ms Esther Duflo and Mr Michael Kremer for their experimental approach to fighting poverty.
Mr Banerjee, Ms Duflo and Mr Kremer tested their pioneering approach in countries such as
Kenya and India. The Nobel committee said the trio’s methods have dramatically improved the ability to fight poverty. The award ceremonies will be held in Stockholm and Norway in December.
